Yet another HDX grift

I appreciate all Jose Crypto interactions on the communication channels.

However, I don't appreciate them enough to justify 510K HDX (again).

It's about community management. It's clear that Jose's English is not great, and sometimes leads to longer discussions than needed if the communication were more objective and well expressed.

I sum up Jose's interactions to the following:

  • ~50% of the time is spent posting this:

When providing liquidity in Omnipool, there are three possible outcomes based on the position's relationship with H2O (which acts as an index for all assets in the Omnipool):

    1. If the position is above the entry price relative to H2O, you will likely receive H2O to partially cover impermanent loss (IL).
    2. If the position is below the entry point relative to H2O, you may end up with less of the X token. In this case, you will not receive H2O, so you'll need to wait until the position is closer to your entry point. This is due to Omnipool's mechanism for socializing IL.
    3. If the prices remain in the same range relative to H2O, your assets will be auto-compounded. For example, if you initially provide 100 DOT and later see 102 DOT, the extra 2 DOT are from fees. However, this depends on the trading volume of the asset.

For more information, you can read about it on
    https://docs.hydration.net/products/trading/liquidity/impermanent_loss

  • The other ~50% of the time, some community members answer first to user doubts (and receive no tip). Later, Jose appears and says "Yes, do what -some other user- said". I get it, it's a part-time job, but the point is that I don't see other useful community members getting tipped, yet they provide the same value as Jose (and sometimes with better English communication skills). Other times is the usual redirection to a Discord support ticket.

(take the percentages above with a great pinch of salt, they are there just to provide you the general sense)

I want this to be a constructive comment. I would enjoy having clearer metrics on how useful Jose really is. For example, I don't know how many user support tickets (on discord) Jose helped resolve. The time spent per week is mostly useless to me. One person can take 1 minute writing a two paragraphs answer, and another person takes 5 minutes (what if Jose is the person that takes 5 minutes, especially if it's in English?).

If I see clear signs of improvement (English skills, clearer and verifiable metrics to evaluate the effort not only measured in "time per week"), I would double down on the tip next time. I have voted Aye for the past ones, but since I didn't see any improvement to the points I've expressed, it's a Nay for me this time, thus I'm justifying it.

I just don't want this tip to become something that is almost taken for granted because everybody likes Jose. It should be backed by strong arguments too.

I think you get the point just by looking at the Tip Request title:

Good enough is not enough.
